Tomorrow's the Big Day!

I'm so excited about our transfer tomorrow morning!! Eeeeee! I just can't wait. I'm on a total up swing right now - high hopes and high spirits. :) That may bite me in the butt later if this transfer does not result in pregnancy, but I'm not going to worry about that now. I'm happy to be happy about it, if that makes sense. lol. I'm going to try to take some pictures while we're at Dr. Q's, so if you want a bit of play by play through the process, make sure you're following the Where's Baby Miller facebook page and/or my Instagram (DenayMiller). :)

Physically, I'm doing great. Ryan and I really feel like we've nailed our injection routine which is nice. I've found that for my body, getting the syringe in is the hardest part. Thankfully, I don't have any burning sensation or pain when the medication penetrates. We've been icing the site to help numb it prior to injection, and then I massage and put a heating pad on afterward to help the oil absorb into the muscle and prevent lumps. Although I do have some bruising and slight soreness, I haven't had to deal with welts or anything crazy.

Side note - ^this is the new ice pack I bought today. It's got smiley little crabs and lobsters on it and I just about died when I saw it. :) Funny how a cute ice pack can make me excited about my injection tonight. lol

Follie progress report

You know you're an infertile nerd when you burst with pride at how skillfully you can stab yourself with a syringe. I totally caught myself doing that this week. lol. I'm seriously pretty good at filling those babies up and injecting with little to no pain. Although, I do think that my belly is starting to get tired of it, I'm having a harder time finding spots that aren't already tender. Maybe I'll switch to injecting into my leg in a few days to change it up.

Like I said in my last post, I added Menopur to my nightly mix this past Sunday. My body doesn't like it very much - I automatically felt a difference. It makes me feel kinda woosy in my head all the time, and I've become somewhat...uhm...emotionally unstable. Happy, sad, irritated, hungry, tired, confused, sad again. Fun stuff, I tell ya. In all seriousness, I think I prefer being slightly psychotic over the physical discomforts that came with clomid like hot flashes and night sweats. ::shrugs:: Gotta see the bright side of things right? lol

We had our first follie check this afternoon with Dr. Q and everything is moving along great. It looks like I've got 10 follies to work with. :) I was really happy with that number. I have another couple check ups over the next few days to monitor the growth, and we anticipate my egg retrieval will be next Tuesday or Wednesday.

The anticipation is growing a bit, but honestly I still feel pretty unattached to the whole thing. Maybe even a little un-hopeful (is that even a word?). Which I don't really see as a bad thing, because I know it's a defense mechanism for my heart and it's helping me stay relaxed for now. But next week is going to be a crazy whirlwind, and I'm not even sure how to brace myself for it. bleeeeeh. Oh well. If I get overwhelmed, I'm going to fully adhere to my life motto -

*teehee* :)

Let the stimming begin!

I've decided that injections are like my annoying sidekick. I don't really want to deal with them, but I know I can't defeat infertility without them. Oh well. At least they're a familiar part of the journey by now. My baseline ultrasound went well this afternoon, so we're good to move forward with ovary stimulation. I started  with 300 IUs of Bravelle today (four vials). My dosage gets a little lower next week, but I'll be adding Menopur to my nightly cocktail at that point. I also found out that the oral pill I'm taking alongside my injections, Dexamethasone, is a steroid that will make me hungry on a regular basis and possibly give me insomnia. So if I turn into a fat zombie with the emotions of a psychotic cat this month, you'll know why. Consider yourself warned. ;)

Moving right along

Yesterday's appointment went well. Basically, Dr. Q wants to be careful not to stimulate too many eggs (4-8) since I’m young and haven’t established a history of failed IUIs just yet. So we’re going to try to get two or three eggs again, this time using only injectable meds instead of the Clomid/inject combo that I did last cycle. This will help both the quality and quantity of my eggs. It's a little more aggressive, without being too risky, which I am happy with. I started my injects yesterday, and I'm really hoping that I can get three good sized follies from it. I will feel like we actually have a good shot at this with three. But we'll see what God has for us this time around. :)

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

Ahhh needles

Well, we're in full swing of treatment. I've decided that rather than rushing to finish my mini-series, I'm going to just put it on hold until we hit our next waiting period in a few weeks. Not ideal because it breaks up the flow of topics, but I would rather do that than get behind on what is happening currently. Hope that's ok with everyone. :)

The latest and greatest is that I have successfully given myself my first couple FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone) injections. woohoo! We actually recorded our first shot at it (buh dum bum. lol), so you can see for yourself if you so desire. :)

My memory card filled up before I was able to tell Ryan how I felt. :) Aside from a little sting because I was injecting too fast at first, it wasn't bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it went. I haven't felt the full weight of side effects yet, but I'm sure I will this week. Clomid has affected me a little more than last time even though it's a lesser dosage. Kinda weird. I've had several headaches, fatigue, achy ovaries, and of course, the return of my ever faithful companion - Madame Hot Flash. Fun times. :)

I am going to see Dr. Q this week to see how I'm responding, and talk about our next steps. :)
